Blog Post

March 2019
Welcome to my website. I’m Jay Henry Peterson and this is the first blog I’ve ever written. Before now I didn’t have a good reason to write one. I hope to use a blog to better communicate with those who might want to read the stories I’ve published and those I plan to write and publish. After many years of thinking about it, I decided to publish some of my stories. In the process, I discovered that writers are expected to have websites so I had jayhenrypeterson.com created for me. On the website I’m “an old new writer” because I’m no longer young (that’s the “old”) and I’ve just entered the arena of published works (that’s the “new”). I started by publishing a three-novel series on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Apple Books, Kobo and other ebook outlets about a teenager named George Grant who aspires to be a pitcher on his high school baseball team. His childhood dream is to become a professional baseball player. Amazon also published the books as paperbacks. Some writers model their characters after their own fantasies, but George Grant isn’t me. In my youth I knew kids who had those aspirations but I never played in anything more organized than a sandlot game. My interest in baseball is because I’ve always enjoyed watching the game. That’s why my first published books are stories about baseball. During my high school years I was a farm kid. We had a diversified operation with dairy and beef cattle, hogs and chickens. We raised small grains, beans, corn and hay. Playing baseball would have seriously interfered with our all-important spring farming operations. What happens with this blog will depend partly on what I hear from readers and partly on what I think might make interesting reading. Right now the Cactus and Grapefruit leagues are ending the 2019 spring training sessions. I’ve got just enough time to catch one more game before the teams pack up and head back to their respective cities to get ready for the new season. I’m looking forward to another exciting year of baseball.
